Three months ago we achieved 5 per cent in the Tamworth by-election, with slightly less than that in Mid-Bedfordshire. Last week we achieved 10 per cent in Kingswood where people were saying we were going to lose our deposit. And we achieved 13 per cent in Wellingborough, more than our national polling. Every advance is a staging post in the growth of people’s understanding of what we believe and what we will do for this country and them. I am not in politics to split the Conservative vote.
