Hertfordshire residents will pay an extra 4.99% for county council services this year so the authority can deliver a £1.1 billion annual budget from April. The increase is the maximum allowed and equivalent to £1.54 a week for average Band D households. Last year the council demanded £1,605.63 from those residents. This year (2024-25) they will pay an extra 2.99% or £48.01 for council tax and an additional 2% or £32.11 for an adult social care precept which means their new overall annual bill is £1,685.75.
