Online entertainment conglomerate Netflix’s profit climbed in the second quarter, beating Wall Street estimates, the company said on Thursday. Netflix’s bottom line came in at $2.15 billion, or $4.88 per share. This compares with $1.49 billion, or $3.29 per share, in last year’s second quarter. The company’s revenue for the quarter rose 16.7% to $9.56 billion from $8.19 billion last year. In the second quarter, the video streaming market leader gained 8 million subscribers, a 37% increase over the same time last year. Netflix now has around 277.7 million subscribers worldwide, it said.
