Chelsea defender Reece James was named club captain before the start of this season. Following Cesar Azpilicueta’s departure last summer and Jorginho’s exit in the 2023 January transfer window, Chelsea needed a new skipper. Reece James took the armband, while Ben Chilwell was appointed vice-captain by Mauricio Pochettino.
