The bill for specially adapted large scale asylum accommodation is likely to soar, costing the Government tens of millions of pounds more than using hotels, according to the spending watchdog. The National Audit Office (NAO) said the Home Office expects to spend £1.2billion on housing asylum seekers in large accommodation sites, around £46million more than using hotels.
