Tokyo stocks rose Tuesday morning as overnight gains on Wall Street prompted buybacks after a fall the previous day and a reprieve in the yen’s recent strengthening eased caution. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 627.25 points, or 1.68 percent, from Monday to 38,015.87. The broader Topix index was up 27.38 points, or 1.04 percent, at 2,668.52. The U.S. dollar strengthened to around the 147 yen line after briefly weakening to as low as the upper 145 yen zone.
