Bayern Munich defender Josip Stanisic will be sidelined for “several weeks” after tearing a collateral ligament in his right knee, the Bundesliga club said on Tuesday. The player suffered the injury in training on Monday, the club added. Stanisic spent the previous season at Bayer Leverkusen on loan, winning the Bundesliga and the German Cup, while Bayern failed to win a title for the first time in over a decade. He was a starter in Friday’s 4-0 win against SSV Ulm in the German Cup and was expecting to be in the starting line-up for Bayern’s Bundesliga opener at VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday.
