The wreck of a sunken freighter lying on the floor of the North Sea near Helgoland has been cut in two in preparation for removing it from the important shipping route, the German shipping and waterways authority (GDWS) reported on Monday. The British-flagged Verity, which is lying at a depth of around 37 metres, had been cut through in an operation lasting nine hours, the GDWS said.
