A teacher at Mount Carmel Guild Academy in West Orange, a private school for special needs students, has been charged with assaulting an 11-year-old student in April, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens announced Friday. The teacher, Jaron Spicer, 32, of Bayonne was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault, which is a disorderly persons offense.
