The Nigerian Senate has failed to name one of its Committee Rooms after the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, in compliance with a resolution it adopted on 20th March, 2024. Ibadan South senator, Sharafadeen Alli had sponsored a motion urging the Senate to immortalize the late first class monarch who was also a Senator from 1999 to 2003. The motion which was supported by two lawmakers from Oyo State, Senators Yinus Akintunde, Oyo Central and Addulfai Buhari, Oyo North, recalled that the late monarch was the Senate Committee Chairman on National Planning.
