A pilot project to remove rusting munitions and chemical weapons from German waters in the Baltic Sea is expected to start sometime this summer, according to a German government paper obtained by dpa. The document says that Germany’s Environment Ministry has concluded negotiations with potential maritime salvage contractors for the pilot operations in the Baltic Sea, and that a contract for the work should be concluded by the end of May.
