Former star player Rainer Bonhof was on Tuesday elected Borussia Mönchengladbach president, the Bundesliga club said. Bonhof, 71, takes over from Rolf Königs, who presided over the club for almost two decades. Bonhof started his professional career at Gladbach where he played 1970-1978, winning four Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and UEFA Cup. He also won the 1974 World Cup with West Germany. “Borussia Mönchengladbach is my life and it is a big honour for me to now by president of this club,” said Bonhof who was vice-president up to now.
