New Jersey has the highest median income in the nation at $96,346, the latest Census data shows. That’s more than $21,000 higher than the national median income. But within the state, there’s some wide swings in median incomes with much of highest earning towns concentrated in northern New Jersey. Five towns in the state have median incomes so high that the Census stops counting and just lists them as $250,000+.
