The top pick for Newbury’s 19th blue plaque has been revealed. The new plaque will be dedicated to The Plaza, of Jimi Hendrix fame. The former entertainment venue, located at 16-18 Market Place – now Bill’s – is well remembered by Newbury residents. During the 1960s, The Plaza functioned at various times as a theatre, cinema and dance hall. It hosted nationally acclaimed and rising musical talent including The Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1967, Cream, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas.
