Lenovo has announced two new Windows-on-Arm laptops that will use the Snapdragon X Elite chipset – the Yoga Slim 7x 14 Gen 9 and the ThinkPad T14 Gen 6. Let’s take a look at the key details of the two new devices.
As its name suggests, the Yoga Slim 7x 14 Gen 9 is a slim device that is only 12.9 mm thick. It weighs about 1.28 kg. This slim and lightweight body manages to house a 70 Wh battery and also supports Rapid Charge Express technology, which the company says provides 3 hours of use in 15 minutes of charging thanks to a new energy-efficient SoC.
The chipset is also integrated with the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, which, among other AI features, supports generative text-to-picture conversion based on artificial intelligence.
In addition, the slim and lightweight laptop boasts an integrated Adreno GPU, 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD, 3 USB-C ports (USB4 certification expected in July 2024), and a 14.5-inch OLED panel with 3K 90Hz resolution that reaches 500 nits for SDR content and 1000 nits for HDR content. For wireless connectivity, the machine offers WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 support. It comes with a backlit keyboard and 1.5mm key travel.
The device is already available for pre-order at Lenovo for $1,289.
Like the previous one, it also runs on the Snapdragon X Elite chip and also offers generative artificial intelligence capabilities. However, it offers you 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen 4×4 SSD, but a smaller 58Wh battery that supports the fast charging feature (charges up to 80% within 1 hour).
The display has a 14-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS panel with a resolution of up to 400 nits. The device is 16.9 mm thick and weighs 1.24 kg, which is slightly less than the Yoga Slim 7x 14 Gen 9.
When it comes to ports, the ThinkPad gives you more options:
- 2 x USB-C® 4, 40 Gbps (supports power supply and DisplayPort)
- 2 x USB-A, 5 Gbps (1 always on)
- HDMI® 2.1 (supports resolutions up to 4K @ 60 Hz)
- Combined headphone/microphone
- Optional: Nano SIM card slot
The ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 is also available for pre-order on the company’s website for $2,699.
