Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday as technology shares tracked gains by their U.S. counterparts, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq index finishing at a new high. In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 165.00 points, or 0.42 percent, from Monday to 39,234.68. The broader Topix index was up 11.02 points, or 0.40 percent, at 2,779.06. On the top-tier Prime Market, gainers were led by insurance, nonferrous metal, and electric power and gas issues.
