Firefighters were called following a blaze at a substation. Smoke had been seen coming from the substation in Northdown Road in Cliftonville, Margate this afternoon. Substations convert electricity to different voltages so that it can be used in people’s homes, businesses and buildings. One fire engine was sent to the scene after being called at around 12.45am. By the time the crew arrived the fire had already been put out and no further action was required. No injuries were reported and duty of care was left with a site engineer at 1.20pm.
