Ibrahim Aqil, a founding member of the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said on Friday, as the US sought to prevent a full-scale war between Israel and Lebanon. Aqil, also known as Haj Abdul Al Qader, was a high-ranking official in the military wing of the pro-Iranian Shiite organization. Hezbollah later confirmed Aqil’s death.
