At least eight people have died after heavy rainfall caused flooding in south-western China, the Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday. More than 30 people are still missing after flash floods hit south-west China’s Sichuan province, Xinhua said. Rescue work was continuing with more than 400 emergency personnel at the scene. China regularly experiences torrential rainfall, especially during the summer months. At least 12 people died after a motorway bridge collapsed in north-western China on Friday.
