Ukrainian forces remain under severe pressure around the city of Pokrovsk in the east of the country after Russian troops mounted 66 assaults in the region on Tuesday, the general staff reported in Kiev. The assaults had been repulsed, the report from Wednesday said. Fighting was continuing in many settlements lying on the approach for the Russians to Pokrovsk, some 10 kilometres from the front line.
