A car has plunged off a road and into the river below, sparking a huge emergency response. Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the junction of Mace Lane and East Hill near Ashford town centre at about 12pm. The black saloon ended up in the Great Stour after ploughing through railings next to the former Liquid nightclub. Three fire engines, two fire cars, three ambulances and three police cars were all spotted at the scene. The car was pulled from the river just before 1pm before being taken away by Ashford Recovery.
