Gunmen have kidnapped an unspecified number of passengers along the Akure-Ikere highway at the weekend. The incident occurred between Iju and Ikere-Ekiti when the kidnappers attacked the vehicles the passengers were travelling in. At the scene of the incident, two vehicles, identified as a Toyota Corolla and a white Toyota Highlander, were discovered abandoned with none of the occupants present. The two vehicles had been riddled with bullets upon discovery by other travellers.
