A Chatteris man who was charged with causing the death of a 28-year-old by driving while unfit through alcohol will appear in court next month. Marcin Pilarski, 33, of West Street, was charged with causing the death of Sam Pope, who was struck by a Vauxhall Astra at 11pm on Saturday, May 11. Mr Pope, of Lincoln Road, Peterborough, died at the scene on Oil Mills Road between Pondersbridge and Ramsey Mereside. Pilarski was also charged with failing to stop at the scene of a collision, driving with no licence and driving with no insurance. He is due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on June 11. …
