An off-duty firefighter has been praised for giving lifesaving CPR to a cardiac arrest victim. Dane North, an on-call firefighter with Newport fire station, was on his way home from firefighter training when he got an alert on the Good Sam app for a 71-year-old man in cardiac arrest in Saffron Walden. Dane was first on the scene to find the man’s wife giving him CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) under instruction from East of England Ambulance Service.
