A suspect has been charged after a serious assault that prompted a manhunt on the coast. On Friday, police and ambulance crews descended on Westgate-on-Sea just after 8am following reports that a man had been assaulted. Patrol cars and ambulances were at the scene, while a police helicopter circled the area. A property in Linden Road was taped off and a man was airlifted to a London hospital where he remains receiving treatment for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
