China is set to sharply cut its coal-based energy production, according to an analysis by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) and the Global Energy Monitor. The analysis, published on Thursday, revealed a significant decrease in the approval of new coal-fired power projects in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
