After several weeks with little rain and temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius, 45 fires broke out in Greece on Friday, according to the fire brigade, whipped up by strong winds. “In places the gusts reached 95 kilometres an hour,” said a spokesman for the fire brigade on Greek radio (ERT).
