A man has been banned from a city centre for carrying a blade. Steven McGinty has to stay away from the heart of Canterbury for two years. McGinty was originally stopped and searched by officers after he was seen acting suspiciously in Ivy Lane last November 28. A metal blade attached to a ring was found on him and he was arrested and later charged with possession of a bladed article. McGinty, 37, of no fixed address admitted the allegation before magistrates yesterday (Tuesday) and was given a six-month sentence, suspended for a year.
