A Newark man was sentenced to 22 years in prison for killing his roommate in a homeless shelter in 2022, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II said Friday. Michael Wylie, 33, of Newark was convicted by an Essex County jury on April 4 of first-degree aggravated manslaughter and weapons offenses after he snuck a knife into a homeless shelter in Newark and stabbed his roommate to death, authorities said.
