The Oppo Find X7 series of smartphones has just launched in China, but rumors about the upcoming Find X8 line are already starting to surface. The latest one involves a complete rejection of Qualcomm processors, with both models of the Find X8 line allegedly running on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chipset.
The information comes from Weibo user Smart Pikachu, who claims that both Find X8 models will be equipped with the Dimensity 9400 chipset. Although he didn’t name specific models, given that the Find X7 series includes the base X7 and the high-end X7 Ultra, it’s likely that Smart Pikachu is referring to the Find X8 and X8 Ultra.
However, this assumption contradicts a previous leak from the better known Digital Chat Station (DCS). Although the informant did not share SoC details, the DCS hinted at three models in the Find X8 series, possibly the Find X8, X8 Pro, and X8 Ultra.
These conflicting reports show the uncertainty surrounding the Find X8 phones at the moment. With the launch likely still a few months away, details could still change significantly.
Regardless of the choice of processor, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will deliver impressive performance.
DCS even claims that the Dimensity 9400 can outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Apple A17 Pro in terms of instructions per clock cycle (IPC).
Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to use its own Oryon processor cores to significantly improve performance.
Oppo may choose any of these chipsets to ensure the highest performance of its flagships, but the final decision remains unclear. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as soon as more details about the Find X8 series surfaces.
