The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine is launching the National Cashback program initiated by the President. Citizens will be able to receive up to UAH 3 thousand of cashback per month for the purchase of Ukrainian goods, which can be checked in Diia. The government has launched the project.

“The Diia app is already used by more than 20.7 million Ukrainians. That is why it is a convenient tool for every citizen to receive payments under the National Cashback program,” says Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology.

According to him, the service will be available to Ukrainian producers and sellers who can apply for participation in the program. And also for people who buy Ukrainian products. In a few clicks, you will be able to check the amount of cashback accrued and paid out, and then spend it on certain services.

How it will work

  1. Ukrainian producers and sellers will apply for participation in the program through the Diia portal and register a list of goods.
  2. Ukrainians will open special cards, start receiving cashback, and will be able to view their accrual history in the Diia app.

“Cashback as a form of state support for citizens is more effective for the economy than just providing funds, as it creates additional demand for Ukrainian goods. It creates jobs in Ukraine and ensures tax revenues,” emphasizes Yulia Svyrydenko, First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine.

According to her, up to 40% of the money spent on Ukrainian goods is returned to the budget in taxes and goes to the needs of the Armed Forces. Therefore, through state support, the government is developing the habit of buying local goods.

The accrued funds can be spent on utilities, medical services, sports, movies, or donated to the Armed Forces and bought military bonds.

Payment for utilities, healthcare and services

“By introducing cashback, the Government aims to provide financial support to citizens who buy Ukrainian goods. With the help of this program, many people will be able to pay for utilities in time for the next heating season. This will help relieve some of the financial burden on many Ukrainian families,” emphasizes Oksana Zholnovych, Minister of Social Policy.

The compensation for the purchase of Ukrainian goods can also be spent on medical services, including dental care, gym memberships, train tickets, etc. The cashback mechanism will be similar to the eSupport program implemented by the Government during COVID-19. More than 10 million Ukrainians benefited from this program.

The National Cashback program will support citizens in times of war. At the same time, it will encourage them to change their consumer habits – to know and choose local producers better.

The National Cashback program is coordinated by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. The project involves the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the State Tax Service, the settlement bank Oschadbank, and authorized banks of Ukraine. The technology partner of the program is the international payment system Mastercard. The project’s operational partner is Visa, an international payment technology company.
