By Paul Gallagher & Cullen Willis The Department For Work and Pensions (DWP) has today ordered new Cold Weather Payments for more than 200,000 people to help with household heating bills which were run up during last week’s bitter cold snap. Residents in 148 postcode areas will receive the £25 payments after the Met Office confirmed that they endured subzero temperatures for seven consecutive days. The new payments confirmed this morning will affect postcodes in parts of Greater Manchester, Suffolk, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Essex, Carlisle and Powys in Wales. They follow on from the announcement …
