The long-awaited launch of Huawei’s Nova 13 series smartphones has been postponed, according to a reliable industry resource, Digital Chat Station. The series, which was originally scheduled for an August debut, will not appear now.
Instead, the Chinese tech giant is preparing to introduce a folding phone under the Nova brand. Although details about this new device are still scarce, the Nova line’s reputation for offering high-quality features at competitive prices suggests a similar approach to the upcoming flip phone.
As for the delayed Nova 13 series, there are whispers of some interesting specs. The Pro and Ultra models are rumored to have satellite connectivity, a feature that has been gaining popularity lately. These devices may be powered by the same flagship Kirin 9010 SoC as the recently released Huawei Pura 70 series.
The Nova 13 series may also inherit the XMAGE camera branding currently used on Huawei’s flagship Pura and Mate smartphones. The series will also reportedly offer improved selfie photography with a dual front-facing camera.
Moving on to the display, leaks indicate that the standard Nova 13 will have a flat screen, while the rest of the models may have a slightly curved design. All devices are rumored to be equipped with 1.5K displays, which is a comfortable average between Full HD and Quad HD.
The Nova 13 series is also expected to ship with the HarmonyOS Next operating system pre-installed. The rear camera system is said to include variable aperture technology for the main camera, while the periscope telephoto lens is likely to be reserved for higher-tier models. While these details are not confirmed, they point to a potentially feature-rich mid-range offering.
While the delayed launch of the Nova 13 series is undoubtedly disappointing for fans, the prospect of a Huawei-branded folding phone adds an intriguing dimension to the company’s smartphone portfolio. We will keep you posted on any new developments related to these smartphones.
