Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has appointed his son to the highest military office in the East African country. Friday’s announcement has fuelled fears that Museveni, 79, one of Africa’s longest-serving long-term presidents, is grooming his son as his successor. The 49-year-old General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who was appointed head of the defence force, has repeatedly caused trouble with comments posted on X, formerly Twitter.
