Liverpool’s search for a new manager looked set to be intertwined with Bayern Munich this summer. Both on the hunt for replacements for Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel respectively, the Reds and Bayern shared some of the same targets. Xabi Alonso was the obvious option for the two teams, and they were both said to be pushing hard to sign him up. But with Alonso staying put at Bayer Leverkusen, attention turned elsewhere.
