By Dave Burke Ministers rejected pleas to move tonight’s crunch Rwanda vote despite it clashing with the “most sacred” Jewish festival – meaning some were forced to miss it, peers heard. Crossbench peer Lord Carlile of Berriew told the House of Lords that “strong representations” to move the date of the vote were ignored. He said he was alarmed that the crunch debate and vote is behind held on the first day of the Passover Festival of Pesach.
