A train has crashed into a tree blocking lines and causing severe disruption to services. The Southeastern train suffered “significant damage” after it crashed into the tree, which had fallen onto the line, between Rainham and Newington at around 6.30am. Services have been brought to a standstill with all lines blocked between Rainham and Sittingbourne and are expected to “remain blocked for some time”. Staff are en route to assess the damage.
