Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday received 20 bills, including a measure designed to crack down on participants in “street takeovers.” Supporters of the bill (SB 1674) said it is designed to help prevent street racing, drag racing and stunt racing. Fines and jail time would be increased for people involved in the takeovers. Under the measure, for example, fines would increase from $500 to $2,000 for first-time offenses.
