An appeals court in Germany on Friday rejected a Muslim woman’s request for an exception to a ban on wearing a veil while driving. The woman argued that her religious beliefs require her to wear a face veil, or niqab, that only leaves her eyes uncovered whenever in public. German law prohibits coverings that make the face of the driver unrecognisable. The woman had applied to the driving authorities for an exception to the rule, but had her request rejected.
