A Turkish court sentenced a contractor to more than 18 years in prison on Thursday for negligence concerning a building that collapsed in last year’s devastating earthquake in the country’s south-east. Contractor Müslüm Demirer was handed 18 years, one month and 15 days in jail for “causing death and injuries by gross negligence,” state broadcaster TRT reported.
