British authorities on Friday said they seized some 5.7 tons of cocaine – believed to be a record – hidden a Germany-bound container at Southampton Port hidden among bananas from South America. The UK National Crime Agency (NCA) said the seizure was believed to be the biggest ever haul of class A drugs in the country. The street value of the seized cocaine is believed to be “in excess of £450 million” ($570 million), the agency said in a Friday news release.
