Former Netherlands international Marc Overmars is appealing against the worldwide ban imposed on him by football’s governing body FIFA. In November, he was banned from Dutch football for a year. During his time as sporting director at Ajax Amsterdam, Overmars had sent messages to employees of the club that “crossed the line” according to the record Dutch champions. Overmars, who as well as Ajax played for Arsenal and Barcelona, apologized for the messages and resigned from Ajax in February 2022.
