More than 600 migrants from Africa arrived by boat on the Italian Mediterranean island of Lampedusa overnight, authorities said on Saturday morning. A total of 13 boats were registered within a few hours. Shortly before reaching the island, one carrying a total of 45 migrants on board was shipwrecked, according to the report. Almost all of the occupants were able to save themselves, but a 15-month-old toddler is missing. The authorities counted a total of 620 new arrivals.
