For the first time, people in Germany aged 16 and over will be allowed to cast a ballot in the European elections in two weeks’ time, in a milestone for voting rights in the country. The previous minimum voting age of 18 was lowered in November 2022 – although for elections to the national parliament, the minimum age is still 18.
