The United States, Britain and Germany have all spoken out in support of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to be the next NATO Secretary General, to succeed Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. US President Joe Biden “strongly endorses” Rutte’s candidacy, a US official told dpa on Thursday. The US president supports Rutte’s candidacy as the Dutch prime minister’s “leadership would serve the alliance well at this critical time,” the US official said.
