Volunteers launched a rescue operation following reports of a person in distress in the sea. Crews from Littlestone RNLI were called just before 7am this morning to help with the search off the coast of St Mary’s Bay, on Romney Marsh. They launched their B-Class inshore lifeboat Jean McIvor and headed to the reported location. The Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Lydd was also scrambled.
