Neanderthals may have used a complex adhesive consisting of several components to provide stone tools with handles more than 40,000 years ago. The findings emerged as part of a study of pieces from the Neanderthal site of Le Moustier in the Dordogne region of France led by two German experts, Patrick Schmidt from the University of Tübingen and Ewa Dutkiewicz from the Museum of Prehistory and Early History of the National Museums in Berlin.
