Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov has made his 18-year-old son, Akhmat Kadyrov, president of Russian Premier League football club Akhmat Grozny, a few days after also appointing him sports minister of the Russian republic. “We are convinced that the team is awaiting new success, victories and good results under the leadership of Akhmat Ramzanovich,” the club said. Founded in 1946 as Dynamo Grozny and later named Terek Grozny before the latest name change in 2017, the club rose in the early years of the millenium after being financed by the Kadyrov family.
