A council has agreed to raise its precept by 9.9% and increase parking costs to boost its reserves. Southwell Town Council, which last year did not raise its council tax precept, has this year decided on a 9.9% increase. Peter Harris proposed the increase which will provide an income of £296,992 to the council, and explained that now the economy “is a little better” the council needed to play catch up.
