The search for almshouses to accommodate Stansted’s elderly could soon be over. Stansted Parish Council has been told that the Legacy East Almhouses Partnership (LEAP) has bought a house in the village, but as yet “no details have been shared”. The council had been searching for suitable land to build on and was running out of time to make use of the £1m left in trust for the village’s elderly community.
